A domestic violence lawyer is facing court after he allegedly assaulted his wife during a custody dispute.
Jonathan Marshal, 40, is facing charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and domestic violence.
In a statement to the ABC, Mr Marshall said he is devastated by the allegations.
“I am devastated by these allegations, and the impact on my wife, our two children and our childrens’ future,” he said.
He said his family and the law will work with the police to ensure Mr Marshal is properly dealt with.
The ABC understands the assault occurred on March 14 last year.
Mr Marshall has previously been charged with breaching a restraining order against his wife, Samantha, who he said was acting in self-defence.
Ms Marshal filed for divorce in May this year after an argument about their relationship and the amount of money they shared.
But a custody order is now in place and she is expected to be charged when the matter is heard in court in September.
Earlier this year, Ms Marshal said she was angry at her husband for not meeting her needs.
A court heard she was in and out of hospital and in and outside prison.
She also told the ABC that she was upset when her husband would not pay for his child care.
Last year, Mr Marshall pleaded guilty to the domestic violence offence and is scheduled to be sentenced in September this year.
He was arrested on the day he allegedly attacked Ms Marshall.
