An Atlanta lawyer who says she’s the mother of a 4-month-old girl who was killed by a truck driver who was driving at a high speed during a traffic accident said the girl was killed because of her ability to use a cellphone.
“I have no doubt that it was a tragic accident, and we all are shocked and saddened,” lawyer Lisa Wieczorek told WSB-TV.
“My daughter is not a passenger in the vehicle.
She was sitting on the passenger side and the driver of the truck hit her.”
Wiecki said she and her husband were driving to a friend’s house in the Atlanta suburb of Edgewood when the accident occurred.
They were driving on a one-way road when the driver struck the rear of the vehicle and then ran off the road.
She said the truck driver told her that she could not stop because of the child’s injuries, WSB reported.
Wieckis attorney, Mark Hodge, told the station that his client’s attorney told him that she was driving on the wrong side of the road and that she should not be driving.
“It’s just not the case, that the driver was trying to kill her,” Hodge said.
The incident is under investigation.
