AUSTRALIA’S lawyer and entertainer has been accused of assaulting a woman he knew through a mutual friend.
Key points:An alleged assault occurred in MarchMr Ross was in a heated argument with another womanMr Ross has been charged with assault causing injuryMr Ross denies the allegation and says he was the victimA woman who is now a close friend of Mr Ross says the assault was “sadistic”Mr Ross, who has been in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years, has not been charged.
The alleged assault took place at a party on March 5.
The woman, who is still in the care of Mr MacGregor, was at the party with her friends, aged between 18 and 24, and a group of friends.
The friends had been drinking and Mr Macgregor was in the process of having sex with one of the women when he began to verbally assault the other woman.
“The women started to move around and Mr Ross was the first one to grab the other women,” she told the ABC.
“I don’t know what he was doing but he just started to be aggressive.”
She said the friend who was in attendance intervened and Mr Fitzsimons tried to stop the attack.
“He said, ‘Don’t you dare say anything to her.
I’m going to hit you.
I’ve had enough,'” she said.”
There was a fight that started and he got the woman in a headlock.”‘
I just can’t believe it’Mr Ross said the fight started because he had been “trying to be civil” with the other man.
“We all get it.
It’s just sadistic.
I just can no longer believe it,” he said.
Mr Ross says he tried to calm the other person down and was “too aggressive” to stop it.
“This is the sort of stuff you’d expect me to be in a fight with a friend, but this was my friend, my best friend, and I just couldn’t handle it,” Mr Ross said.
He said he is also “very much” a victim of the “terrible” sexual assault allegations made against him in April, after a female colleague of his accused him of sexually assaulting her in an online chat.
“It’s just so sad to think about it, but I’m a victim, too, so I don’t think it’s something that’s something I can really comment on,” Mr Fitzsimmons said.’
I have a lot of questions’Mr Fitzsimon said he has “a lot of unanswered questions” about what happened.
“Why was he talking to her?” he said, adding he had also been told the alleged victim was in police custody.
“And, at the end of the day, she’s just going to be a victim,” he told the broadcaster.
“If there’s any kind of allegation, she can’t go to the police and she’s not going to report it to the authorities.”
Mr MacGregors lawyer has said the matter has been dealt with in court.
